Effectiveness of Transdiagnostic Therapy in Behavioral-Emotional Disorder and Excessive Mind Wandering in Children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Background: Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common neurodevelopmental disorders among school-age children. Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate impact transdiagnostic therapy on children with ADHD who also had behavioral-emotional and experienced excessive mind wandering. Methods: quasi-experimental utilized a pretest-posttest design control group. The statistical population consisted all college students referred West Health Center in 2019. A sample 30 patients was selected, they were randomly assigned either TDT intervention group (n = 15) or 15). experimental received for eight sessions, two 90-minute sessions per week, while did not receive any treatment. Rutter Children Behavior Questionnaire (RCBQ) Mind Excessively Wandering Scale (MEWS) research tools used. multivariate analysis covariance used analyze data. Results: included participants an average age 11.2 ± 1.2 years. In group, score emotional behavioral decreased from 30.33 23.40, mental wandering 18.93 15.26 after intervention. RCBQ changed 30.86 30.60, MEWQ 19.06 18.86 effective reducing disorders, as well wandering, (P < 0.05). Conclusions: Transdiagnostic treating attention deficit. Therefore, these individuals should incorporate interventions alongside psychiatric therapies.
